Tounge Not So Tiny

SalvationI was having a conversation via phone with a friend the other day.    In the midst of her dialouge to me, she said “…the only thing we need to worry about…”.  Wow.  Instantly, Jesus gave me revelation.  It is so easy to quickly confess what is no longer our MO back into our lives.  Allow me too explain.

Before Jesus, I worried about darn near everything.  There were a lot of “What if’s?”, but when you recieve Jesus as your Lord, He tells us not to worry (Matt 6:34).  However, that’s not what inspired this blog.  What insipred this blog was her confession”…the only thing we need to worry about…”.  Firstly, let’s make one thing clear, this is not to pick on my friend.  She is a confident and prosperous woman of God.  We all, present co. included, make mistakes and say the wrong thing on a daily basis.

Nonetheless, the confession was negative.  We, as children of God, don’t need to worry about anything.  And don’t try to soften your “worry” with “I’m not worried Nicole, I’m concerned“.  Boo boo, ain’t no difference.  Jesus didn’t say cast your cares on me but keep your concerns.  He said :

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully[1 Peter 5:7, (AMP)].

The book of Proverbs tells us that the power of life and death is in the tounge, in other words, it’s what you say that will determine life or death in your situation (Prov. 18:21).   If you’ll have what you say, according to God’s word, ask the Holy Spirit to keep your tounge in check!

“…Even so the tongue is a little member, and it can boast of great things. See how much wood or how great a forest a tiny spark can set ablaze!” (James 3:2-5)

Beauty has a creator.

IMG_20130308_190546You, darling, were made with purpose.  So if you find yourself 3 months into the new year without having accomplished a single thing, know that you’re being here on this planet is too worthy to wallow in regret.  Splash some cool water on your face, get organized and start planning while you continue to believe!  It is never to late to pull your dream into reality…pull with your faith.  Remember, it’s what we don’t see that makes a world of difference…

“By faith, we see the world called into existence by God’s word, what we see created by what we don’t see.” Hebrews 11:3 (MSG)

“…I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”  Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG)

Start small.

Let us take this year by force!  Do not sit on the sidelines and be sure to throw out those New Year’s resolutions.  That’s right, I said it!  They are not enough to make changes in your life.  If you want to make a change, it starts with your brain!  Change the way you think about your obstacle, business start-up, losing weight, reading the word more and then you will see ever lasting change.

” 1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. ”

– Romans 12:1-2 (MSG)

Fatal Attraction

It has been brought to my attention that many of us woman like our men tailored to our imagination.   Woopie Nicole big surprise…

I know I like nuts because that's what I was designed to like...

You may desire your guy to be white, black, asian, tall, short, round, or lean.  Recently a wonderful young lady asked me if I thought there was anything wrong with this.  Well that all depends wonderful young lady.

As Christian women when we find ourselves desiring a specific type of man, it is important to know the root of this attraction.

i.e. When I was single I was very attracted to white and european men.  I was completely fine with that until the Lord revealed to me that I was holding a hateful grudge against my own race.  That ladies is a problem.  The Lord cleansed me of this and I ended up asking the Lord to send me a dark chocolate brother.

Oh boy… did He deliver.

Jesus doesn’t mind us being specific and liking our men to look a certain way.  But if that desire stems from a wordly fantasy or self hate characteristic (just to name a few)- that  is what He has an issue with.  Remember, He can see what you’ll still need in your marriage 10 years from now…you can’t.

Ask the Lord to reveal any self hate, unforgiveness, or personal issues from your past that you have allowed to be the “hands” that molded those specific desires  for your future mate.  I can garuntee you that any flaws you do find can be erased through the renewing of your mind with God’s word.

By the way  if you are guilty of this, relax.  He’s not mad at you so don’t  you be mad at you.

The Holidays

Oh what a wonderful time of year it is!  Who doesn’t love Christmas time?  The snow, family, gifts, the birth of our Saviour?  Let’s be honest….for some of us, Christmas can feel like a lonely time.

When I was single, I looked forward to leaving the cold grip of New York City and heading to my parents house in sunny Hollywood, FL.  Yet despite being surrounded by family, I remember yearning for a better half to wake up to on Christmas morning.

Brace yourself ladies, I’m about to keep it real.  I’d like to take this time to tell you that loneliness is not an absence of person, but an absence of purpose.  When we’re lonely, often times we think that a special someone will fill that void or even God will fill that void.  Yes, it’s true that He makes us whole (1 Thess 5:23), but you can know God and not know your purpose.

Do you know your purpose?  Or does your soul (thinker, feel, emotions) desire a different purpose than the one Daddy placed in your spirit (the part of you that will live forever)?

Take time this holiday season to ask the Holy Spirit to confirm those things in your life that you don’t have peace about.  Ask Him to reveal more about your purpose in life so you can stay excited and focused on those things above and unseen.  Remember, God’s purpose for you is in His word.  However, we still need to hear from Him (Rhema word).  So read His written word and listen for His voice to receive revelation knowledge.

Maybe you’re not sure you’re in the right career? Relationship? City?  Degree of study?  Or maybe you’re in bondage to a character flaw in your old man (your flesh) that is holding you back from your destiny.

There’s no way around it ladies, you Prince Charming needs a woman who can survive on her own because she trusts in the Lord and not her own understanding.  Mr. Right doesn’t want someone that’s needy and incapable of enjoying life without him.  Trust me, men of God want strong, capable, and resourceful women.

Read proverbs 31:10-31…relax…she’s not real.  But she is certainly an example to be followed.

Mamma’s boy…

Mamma’s boy…

Ladies, if you chose to date a man who live’s with his mother, please do not feel obligated to justify it with anyone.

If your man is sitting on his mother’s couch playing video games all day, letting his spiritual food supply (the bible) collect dust, and spending money that is not his on the lusts of the world (it is not his money if he’s not working, and if he is squandering from the only money he has saved that may be even worse).  Do not be surprised if the fruit he bares for you is debt, lack, low self-esteem, and selfishness.  He may treat his mother kindly, which is great, but he came out of her and he’s supposed to cleave to you.

If your man is sitting on his mother’s couch playing video games for fun, working hard at his job, saving his money, renewing his mind with the word, educating his mind to sharpen his natural skills, and helps his mother take good care of her home.  Don’t be surprised if the fruit he bares for you is lasting moments of joy,  financial security, wise decision-making, prosperity, and an excellent listener.

God’s perfection is attainable through His word, lets practice it everyday.  While nobody is perfect, we all bear fruit for every seed that we sow.

If you are dealing with any one of the two scenario’s illustrated above, continue to trust in God’s word by seeking confirmation through it.  The following scriptures may help.

  • Romans 12:1-2
  • 1 Timothy 5:8
  • Proverbs 13: 4, 11; 16:22
